Religion played a central role in Dutch migrants' decision to emigrate to Canada. Around the turn of the 20th century, several Dutch church fathers brought migrants in hopes of establishing a Catholic colony in Canada, with varying degrees of economic success.
To coordinate these efforts, the Dutch Roman Catholic Immigration Society (RKEV) was founded in 1928. It assisted Dutch Catholics with their settlement under the supervision of Archbishop A.A. Sinnott.
The RKEV also provided spiritual and social continuity, stressing the importance of placing Dutch Catholics in locations where “it will be possible to take care of their spiritual welfare.”

La religion a joué un rôle central dans la décision des migrants néerlandais d’émigrer au Canada. Au début du XXe siècle, plusieurs pères de l’Église néerlandaise ont fait venir des migrants dans l’espoir d’établir une colonie catholique au Canada, avec plus ou moins de succès sur le plan économique.
Afin de coordonner ces efforts, la Société néerlandaise d’immigration catholique romaine (RKEV) a été fondée en 1928. Elle a aidé les catholiques néerlandais à s’installer sous la supervision de l’archevêque A.A. Sinnott.
La RKEV a également assuré une continuité spirituelle et sociale, soulignant l’importance de placer les catholiques néerlandais dans des endroits où « il sera possible de prendre soin de leur bien-être spirituel ».

Religie speelde een centrale rol in de beslissing van Nederlandse migranten om naar Canada te emigreren. Rond de eeuwwisseling van de 20e eeuw brachten verschillende Nederlandse kerkvaders migranten naar Canada in de hoop daar een katholieke kolonie te stichten, met wisselend economisch succes. Om deze inspanningen te coördineren, werd in 1928 de Nederlandse Rooms-Katholieke Immigratievereniging (RKEV) opgericht. Onder toezicht van aartsbisschop A.A. Sinnott hielp de vereniging Nederlandse katholieken bij hun vestiging.
De RKEV zorgde ook voor spirituele en sociale continuïteit en benadrukte daarbij het belang van het plaatsen van Nederlandse katholieken op locaties waar “het mogelijk is om voor hun spirituele welzijn te zorgen”.
